Crispy tofu is a popular snack in Indonesia. Here's the recipe for you to try :
Ingredients :
200g tofu, thinly cut (1cm thick to make it easy to fry)
2 pcs garlic (peel and chop/crush it finely
salt and white pepper
water
2 eggs (beat / whisk the eggs)
Vegetable oil to fry
Mix these flour:
100g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Sauce :
5 table spoons sweet soy sauce
2 tea spoons salty soy sauce
3 teaspoons cornstarch (tepung maizena)
water
(mix cornstarch with water, add sweet and salty soy sauces, heat it on medium fire until the mixture thicker like jelly)
Fresh chilli, thinly slice (remove the seeds if you like)
Cooking Directions :
Mix garlic, salt and pepper with water, soak the tofu in this mixture for about 10 - 15 minutes.
Drain the tofu, whisk the eggs. Put the tofu in the whisked eggs for 5 minutes.
Roll the tofu in the flour mixture, before frying.
Heat the vegetable oil in the wok, make sure it is enough to cover the tofu during the frying process.
Fry the tofu on medium fire until it turn brown and evenly cook.
Serving Directions :
Serve it hot with sauce mixture and sliced chilli.
